haunted

My dad found this in the yard of our home in Logan.

I know we probably shouldn't be surprised to find remnants of former owners in and around our 134 year old home, but to think that...well...their actual remains, of like, their being are somewhere in our yard makes you double check whether or not you really left that light on. Did you really close that door? Why is the smoke alarm going off? There's no smoke here. What's that sound? Did you feel that? OH MY GOSH I THINK SOMETHING JUST WHISPERED MY NAME!

Ha. No. The only weird thing that happened this weekend was when I realized I was wearing my Star Trek t-shirt while we were watching Star Trek cue twilight zone music. Other than that, if there are ghosts in our Logan home, I think they probably had a very enjoyable weekend.

*If there were ghosts in our home, they got to witness Spencer de-tick himself. Yes, there were a total of 4 ticks on Spencer over the weekend. i think he should probably stop climbing in places called "Tick Haven," no?

*If there were ghosts in our home, they got to listen in on an intriguing conversation in which the differences between "being an orphan" and "being orphaned" were discussed. yes, we came to the conclusion that there IS a difference.

*If there were ghosts in our home, they got to see my brother at his prime. Behold.

My glasses and Sports Illustrated. He wore those puppies for 20+ minutes. And I kid you not, he was reading People Magazine directly before this was taken. ...can you see the ticks?

*If there were ghosts in our home, they got to partake in a whole lot of goodness via General Conference. Elder Perry...wow.

*If there were ghosts in our home, they probably cheered for me even though I got creamed by Spencer in ping pong. it was like....6 to 21.

*If there were ghosts in our home, their minds were probably blown by the deep and insightful comments made by Annie regarding current day trials compared to those in the Book of Mormon. #enlightened.

*If there were ghosts in our home, they must have been envious of all the delicious Thai food we consumed. Poor ghosties. Can't eat Pad Thai, now can you? it's pronounced putt tie. my dad speaks thai. don't mess.

*If there were ghosts in our home, they probably followed Caroline and me to the store because they knew only good things could come of that. Things like a conversation with a woman on the sad state of those who wear pajamas to the store good thing I had just changed...no, but really, antics of picking the perfect pineapplethe debate over whether or not mom told us to get tomatoes i have a terrible memory and lastly....this.

Caroline is a slinky ninja with bean pole legs and I'm a little kid with a new toy. try not to get motion sick.
It's typical.

*If there were ghosts in our home, I bet they made fun while watching me run for the first time in 3 months. but hey! good news. my lungs have decided to cooperate and I can now breathe while exercising.

*If there were ghosts in our home, I'm sure they laughed at us.

Don't mess with the magna.

The Weiler hips don't lie.
But that's because they have no rhythm or movement.
At all.

Look at those arms go though.

I could watch this one on repeat all day.

*If there were ghosts in our home they probably would have applauded our fashion sense. I give you socks paired with Chacos. we're going to the next Fashion Week.

We be stylin.

*If there were ghosts in our home, that would explain why our target practice didn't go so great.

Yes, his hair looks like this with absolutely no effort on his behalf.
maybe his hair is haunted...

*If there were ghosts in our home, they would have wondered why we look so happy when we play games.

Heck, if I was a ghost I'd haunt us.
Wouldn't you?

 Then again...maybe not.

mlk weekend p.1

well sheesh.
did you all have as fantastic a weekend as i did?
i certainly hope so.
although i also hope you somehow managed to be more productive than i was.
i mean, is it really tuesday already?
do i really have beastly homework due at the end of this week?
and it's already tuesday!

but i mean, it's whateves.

this weekend i was able to spend time with some seriously fun people.
and since my sister has informed me that she's been waiting for me to blog about the trip to logan, here i go.
thanks for the support becksterpenny.

friday evening:
after a brief holdup due to some broken clippers and partly cut hair (don't worry, it all turned out fine. seriously funny.), we said our prayer and went on our way, good ol' caravan style.

the playlist (at least in sneaky) ranged from lion king to michael jackson to high school musical to tyrone wells.
the fact that i REALLY need to modernize my cd library was reaffirmed.
yes i have cds from when i was 13.

we arrived at the house and were welcomed by a homemade meal courtesy of mi madre.
we ate on the ping pong table.
and crowded around the fire.
and short-circuited the lights because of space heaters.
and played games.
and shoveled the iced over, snow covered driveway.
thank you boys.
and watched star trek.
anastasia was outvoted. sad. day.

saturday:
after waking up and figuring out how the heater works, the girls made breakfast.
we were joined by the guys later.
we ate. played more games. finished cutting the previously mentioned hair. went and saw the logan temple. came back for lunch. i taught everyone how to play bohnanza oh boy. challenged the pingpong champion to a match. was subsequently defeated by said champion but at least he was nice of enough to say i was kind of good. "one of the better girls he's played." i'll take it. went and ate a sink full of ice cream. journeyed back to provo.

unfortunately it was realized last minute that i had forgotten the memory card for my camera.
fortunately bridget pulled through.

photo cred to bridget lewis.

details of the trip that didn't fit into the general outline above, but made the trip memorable:

*me insisting we listen to the same song several times so that everyone in the car could hear the best part. it finally came and...wasn't even that impressive.
why is that always the case?

*singing kumbaya together and having my mom remark on how warm and fuzzy we must all be down at the y.
she went to the u.

*catching a dollop of whip cream in our mouths after launching it off our wrists.
while this was entertaining in general, the pingpong champion's attempts were the greatest by far.
in the first attempt, the whip cream barely made it off his hand before hitting the floor.
in the second, the force used resulted in whip cream stuck to the ceiling.
everyone in the kitchen died as he sat there, looking at it stuck to the ceiling.
funniest. thing.

this photo cred goes to catherine.

*strobe light party in sneaky
we didn't get pulled over.

*personal hygiene jokes
"we don't have to shave if momma isn't showering."
i couldn't tell if they were being serious or not though?
i mean come on, i don't have to wash my hair everyday, do i!?

*teaching newly returned missionaries what a hashtag is and then allowing them to instagram for the first time.
natural instagram talent right there.
minus the typo.
house? i think he meant hand.

*sharing our fears on the drive back to provo
deep water, moths, needles, and armpit-sweat-marks are serious business.

all in all it was one of the better three day weekends i can remember.
and i haven't even gotten to part two of the weekend.
you can look forward to reuniting friendships, missionary homecomings, cookie making, crashing on skis, and hunger game whistling.
yeah, my family has fun.

but for now i'd like to say to all of my friends that made the time to join me on this trip,
thank you.
i think you're all awesome.

weekend of fathers, feathers, family and fabulous fun

I got kind of excited with the title of this blog

As you may know, I have a feather in my hair. Observe.

My dad, Kirk, is cool. So when he found a feather in the yard of our Logan home, he decided to imitate this recent fashion. Observe.

Yeah, he kept it in all day. He's a fashionista. And we love him for it.
Glad he's mine.

Going to Logan is always fun for me. It's relaxing, has beautiful scenery, and I get to spend time with my family. While we may tease each other a lot, I think I laugh hardest while with them. All of these things make Logan a great place, but every time I go there I'm also so impressed with the architecture of the actual house.

It's beautiful.
It was built in 1879.
By someone named Peter Peterson. (coolest name ever?)
This is what it looks like:

My mom has done a great job of accenting the 1879 elements while working the 21st century elements into the home as well. It's the perfect mix and we love having visitors. This weekend my aunts Nancy and Linda joined us for the getaway and attended the Summerfest Art's Festival held on the lawns of the Logan Tabernacle. Things were expensive but Linda bought a beautiful landscape painting, we all delighted in chocolate strawberries, caramel apples, and three layer chocolate mousse. I also purchased this little accessory.

Oh, and what's that on my wrist? Perhaps a little bit of henna?

It is.

Props to my mom for free handing the whole thing.

So, that's what I did this weekend. I didn't have any homework to worry about and am super happy to say that I won't have any for the next 7 weeks. Sorry to all of those who are going to Summer term. It was a superb weekend and ended perfectly with the whole family (Dad, Mom, Spencer, Annie, Rebecca, Wes, me, Caroline) together at my Salt Lake home for a Father's Day dinner/Mom's birthday dinner. I love being together.
